Clinical & Community Liaison Core

The Center's Clinical & Community Liaison serves as the main interface between the CREEDD and the many clinical and community resources, community-based organizations, and individuals and families from minority and other underserved populations who are involved with and participate in the Center's activities. The Clinical & Community Liaison Core draws on the extensive depth and breadth of experience available at Boston University and partnering institutions. This experience also includes Boston University's established affiliation with community/neighborhood health centers and other community-based organizations, as well as new relationships that the CREEDD seeks to foster. The Clinical & Community Liaison Core aims to: (1) Identify appropriate subjects for inclusion in the work of the CREEDD. Such subjects will include children and their caregivers, who are being seen for health care services (medical and dental) at collaborating institutions. Subjects will also include children in school-based settings, as well as caregivers and children enrolled in WIC and Head Start programs. (2) Conduct clinical assessments and interview (questionnaire) assessments of children and their caregivers, as may be required by specific research projects in the CREEDD. (3) Assist the Center's Biometry Core in the management and analysis of the data collected. The Clinical & Community Liaison Core will also work to ensure data quality through the appropriate training, calibration, and audit of clinical investigators. (4) Develop and maintain liaison with community-based organizations (CBO's), and facilitate interactions among leaders in the community and CREEDD investigators. (5) Develop and disseminate information at the local, regional and national levels. Disseminated information will include successful techniques for recruitment and retention of underserved populations in research. (6) Disseminate broadly the results of CREEDD research projects to the scientific community, policy makers, and the community.
