Michelle
M. Henshaw, Co-Investigator
Dr.
Michelle Henshaw is Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Health Services Research and Dean for Community Partnerships and Extramural Affairs at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. As Dean for Community Partnerships and Extramural Affairs, Dr. Henshaw manages all of the School’s strategic partnerships and
community outreach programs. Dr. Henshaw is active in a number of
community and professional organizations and currently serves on
the Planning Board for the Oral Health Foundation, is a member of
the Massachusetts Coalition for Oral Health, and has recently served
as the Chair of the Community and Preventive Dentistry Section of
the American Dental Education Association.
Dr.
Henshaw earned her dental degree at the University of California
at San Francisco in 1993 and went on to receive the M.P.H. degree
in epidemiology and biostatistics in 1996. She completed her specialty
training in dental public health in 2000 at the Boston University
School of Dental Medicine, and she plans to complete a doctorate in public health in 2006. Dr. Henshaw’s
major research interests are in the areas of health services research
and oral epidemiology. Recent research efforts have focused on how
oral conditions affect health-related quality of life, understanding
oral health disparities and access to care for underserved populations.
Dr. Henshaw
serves as both the Deputy Director of the Center for Research to Evaluate and Eliminate Dental Disparities (CREEDD) and Co-Investigator of the Clinical and Community Liaison
Core of CREEDD.
